The mentors of Horizons consists of a select group of students from Fort Hays State University, who have been chosen through the application process outlined below and is dedicated to the success of the Horizons mentees. Upon acceptance of a mentor position, the mentor must sign a contract accepting all responsibilities to the mentorship program. To apply for a mentor position, the applicant must have been active in the Hays community or on campus, be available to meet during the spring & summer months and be in good standing with the University during the fall semester.

Attend monthly meetings—not permitted to miss more than two (2) meetings per semester
Attend mandatory training in June
Plan one (1) activity during the fall semester with mentee
Participate in one (1) Horizons program per month during fall semester
Maintain records of meetings with mentee
